Dear customer
In this release we introduce several new features based on customer requests. Document preview and conversion support two new file formats. Content type recognition has been extended to support more MS Office formats during the upload. The experimental data model viewer has been enhanced to include almost all design time sources of variables.
For detailed information please see the relevant sections.
Best regards,
the edorasware team
Transaction handling
The transaction handling has been further improved, and although the changes have no effect on the user interface the application is consequently more robust.
Two more file formats supported in document preview and PDF conversion
This release includes two new PDF converters: * Microsoft Outlook message (.msg) * MIME HTML (.mht|.mhtml)
In both cases, the output will be previewed/converted to A4 page size. Both formats support embedded images (GIF/JPEG/PNG). The attachments included in the MS Outlook messages will not be previewed/converted.
We can not guarantee that the existing Microsoft Outlook messages (.msg) and MIME HTML (.mht|.mhtml) archives get previewed/converted as the new uploaded ones will do. More details about the issue in to the following section.
New logic to associate a content type to an uploaded file
If the web browser does not recognize the file type (usually because the system does not have a configured content type for the file extension), HTTP requests set the
file content type to application/octet-stream
, that is, arbitrary binary data.
From now on, edoras one will try to determine the content type from the file name extension but only for a limited number of cases, mostly MS Office related:
-
MS Word: doc, dot, docx, dotx, docm, dotm and txt.
-
MS Excel: xls, xlt, xlsx, xltx, xla, xlsm, xltm, xlam and xlsb.
-
MS Powerpoint: ppt, pot, pptx, potx, pps, ppa, ppsx, ppam, pptm, potm and ppsm.
-
MS Outlook: msg.
-
MIME HTML: mht and mhtml.
Existing content’s metadata will remain unchanged. For instance, to be able to see the preview of a previously uploaded outlook message, the content should be uploaded again.
URL encoding
Due to popular request of customers, we now automatically encode the URLs in the experimental view engine (VE), also the ones defined during modeling in VIS,
such as a the queryURL
oder lookupURL
of a REST Autocomplete component. The encoding allows the safe transfer of special characters in the URL.
If you for some reason should use manually encoded URLs, please update these in your model. See the upgrade notes for more details.
Improvements to experimental data model viewer support in vis
The experimental support of data model viewer in vis has been enhanced to include almost all design time sources of variables.
The data model viewer now has two new columns, the Write references
column displays the links to models referencing the variables where their values are written and the
Read references
column displays the links to models referencing the variables where their values are read. Clicking on the model links opens the repective models.
It is not advised to solely rely on the data model viewer information as long as it is in experimental state.
